GearXplorer Build
GearXplorer is one of my own products, built to answer the question every photographer asks before buying: which one, and is now a good time? It’s a custom build on a NoSQL database with statically generated pages, so the whole catalogue loads instantly. Amazon and eBay integrations keep pricing current and track how it has moved over time, while Flickr pulls in real photos taken on the gear you’re looking at - so you can see what a lens actually does, not just what the spec sheet claims. Behind it all sits a fully custom admin backend for managing products, tuning site settings and keeping an eye on stats.
Highlights
- A comparison engine that calls a clear winner, not just two spec sheets.
- Live Amazon and eBay prices with price history.
- Ask AI: plain-language answers grounded in the product data.
- Real Flickr sample photos showing how each lens actually shoots.
- Static pages across the whole catalogue, kept fresh by scheduled price syncs, plus a custom admin backend.
